John Avarino: Production Coordinator
What’s in a name? Ask Mr. Avarino.
Giovanni “John” Avarino (AKA “Javarino,” “Gio,” “Johnny,” “Brooklyn John”) was hired by Thrillworks on April 1, 2010, and is still convinced it’s an April Fool’s joke. But seriously, folks, the Javarino’s no joke. Clutching papyri in both fists (Gio has diplomas in Electronics Technology and Graphic Design) Johnny came to Thrillworks on a contract and, when the contract expired, we just had to have him. Fortunately for us, Brooklyn John accepted our offer, which he couldn’t refuse and we’ve been honeymooning ever since.
A native New Yorker, Giovanni came to Canada in a canoe (we are dead serious). As he paddled—the lake-like glass before him, loon song in the morning mist—Gio had time to reflect on his background in graphic design, ad sales, marketing and electronics, and his love of football, hockey and paintball. We wonder if Brooklyn John had an epiphany out on that lake in the middle of the Canadian wild. A vision quest. Did he have any idea that in his not-so-distant future he would be working in Burlington and playing wide receiver in the Mississauga Touch Football League? Hey Gio, you’re not in Brooklyn anymore. And we—and our clients—are glad about that.
